I’m sure they work some of the time but we do bath chip repairs and shower tray repairs all the time which were repaired with bath repair kits. The reasons for this are :
- The bonding/adhesive agent used is not usually strong enough to hold the new enamel on the surface for long periods of time
- The enamel colours provided are only a few colours and shades of white. Usually this is not the correct shade of white for your surface. We make the colour up on the spot using tinters to closely match the bath or shower tray colour right there in your home. This takes time and is a large part of the chip repair process
- If you wish to try and use a bath repair kit and do a DIY job then go for it. If it doesn’t work out then you can give us a call to repair it properly
Pinholes are tiny little black pinprick holes on an enamel bath when it was originally made in the furnace. The pinholes are small pockets that help the bath expand and contract due to the cold or heat. When the bath was originally made with the vitreous enamel. Minor pinholes are part of the original manufacturing.
