Bath Chip Repair Full Step By Step Procedure:
To repair a chip in a bath we follow this general procedure:
- We inspect the damage of the area. We see the best way to repair the bath, shower tray, etc.
- We use our high quality adhesive which is put over the damage and this will make the new enamel we put on firmly stick
- We fill the crack, hole or chip with a special filler for these fixtures
- We let it dry and harden
- We then sand it and smooth it off so it’s of the same contour and blending with the surface
- We make up the enamel colour on the spot in your home to match the unit. This takes time and we have perfected the way to do this over years of experience
- We use a adhesive agent again over the filler to create extra strength in bonding our new enamel surface on
- We now spray on the enamel coating with a small spray gun to vanish out the repair with the matched colour we created
- We let it to dry and cure, you can use the bath or shower tray after 24 hours
How long does the bath chip repair take to do?
The bath chip repair takes about 1.5- 2 hours to do the repair. This is an estimate based on a standard bath chip repair. It could take longer depending on the damage involved.
What is the quality of the bath chip repair?
The bath chip repair standard we go for is that you can no longer see the damage of the chip, scratch, dent etc in normal usage. That means that if you were to walk into the bathroom and look over the bath you wouldn’t be able to see there was a chip there or any damage before
If however, you look over the bath very closely, moving your head back and forth in all different angles of the light you may be able to see something. It is, after all, a repair of the surface. But in normal usage you will not be able to see any sign of a repair being done.
How long does the bath chip repair last?
The bath chip repair should last as long as the bath lasts. We wouldn’t have to come back and do another bath chip repair. We spot in the repair with an enamel coating which is colour matched to your surface so you won’t be able to see there was a repair done.
Does the bath chip repair come with a guarantee?
Yes, it does. The warranty covers 1 year from the time the repair is done. The warranty covers flaking or cracking of the bath chip repair or the repair coming away. We have a warranty page you can look at here for more information.
What quality of materials do we use for the bath chip repair?
We use the best materials that are on the market. We have tried and tested all the varies materials and enamels on the market and we have found, what we consider, the best materials for the job.
We use a synthetic enamel coating which is similar to the car surface. So it’s a strong, long-lasting durable enamel coating we use.
We use special bonding agents which stick our enamel coating firmly to your bath so the enamel won’t flake or come away later.
Which areas do you cover?
Our technicians cover all over London. We are based in Islington, North London. We cover Cambridge, Luton, Oxford etc. Anywhere within a 1-hour and a half of London. Please give us a call and we will try and get to you
How can I prevent chips, scratches dents etc from happening in the future?
We repair new and old baths, shower trays, and sinks all the time. When we repair a bath or shower tray the chip is usually due to a metal plug swinging and hitting the bath and thus causing a chip. Or a shower head falling onto the bath and scratching or chipping the bath.
We, therefore, recommend using a rubber plug and rubber seal for your shower head. This way you can avoid future chips, scratches etc!
Do bath repair kits work?
The simple answer is the bath repair kits won’t give you a good finish. Because all baths are varied in shades of white and the bath repair kit only supplies one or two white colours. Chances are it’s not the correct colour of white then matches your bathtub or shower tray. Their bonding agents are not that strong either so the enamel repair will usually wear away or peel off after a time.
If bath repair kits worked then we wouldn’t be in business. But the reality is they don’t really work. The enamel colour provided will be a different shade of yours so you will see a little blog of enamel on your bath
We also spray on the enamel coating with a little domestic spray gun so it gives the best finish and we then fade out the enamel repair. We spend time finding the correct shade of white of your bath or shower tray by using varies tinters to closely match your surface for a vanishing repair.
I hope that answers the question, you can always try it and see for yourself and if it doesn’t work out you could contact us as we could handle it

Tips to Maintain Your Bathtub After Chip Repair
Avoid Abrasive Cleaners
After a chip repair, avoid using harsh or abrasive cleaning agents on the area. These can damage the repair and the finish of your bathtub. Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners.
Use Bath Mats
To prevent future chips, consider using bath mats or non-slip stickers in your bathtub. These can reduce the likelihood of impacts that might cause further damage.
Don't Drop Heavy Objects
Avoid dropping heavy items, such as bottles, razors, or cleaning products, onto the bathtub. Even after a chip repair, sharp impacts can cause new chips or cracks.
Regularly Inspect for New Damage
Keep an eye out for any new chips or cracks in your bathtub. Early detection allows for quicker repairs, helping to prevent further damage.
Maintain the Surrounding Area
Ensure that the area around the bathtub is kept dry and free of moisture. Standing water can seep into cracks and cause expansion, worsening the damage.
