    Bath Resurfacing VS Replacement?

It’s actually easier to re enamel the bath on-site, where the bath is than to replace it. This causes no issues to you in trying to take the bath out.

Replacing the bath can end up costing more due to having to pay for a plumber, maybe destroying the surrounding tiles of the bath and having to get that fixed.  Also, acrylic (plastic) baths are not as strong as cast iron or steel baths but it’s still a good idea to re-enamel them as they can become dull and damaged too.

It’s also contributing to a greener environment by repairing the bath you have instead of buying a completely new bath. Cast iron baths at present cost anywhere between £500-£5000. As a result, its a good idea to re enamel the bath! They are becoming more valuable these days

How Long Does The Job Take?

Bath resurfacing is done at your home and it usually takes 6- 8 hours to complete the full bath resurfacing and bath re-enamelling procedure. You can use the bath within 24 Hours.

When Can I Use The Bath After Its Re Enamelled?

You can use the bath after 24 hours from completion of the job by our technician.

Has The Bath Been Worked On Before?

If the bath has been worked on before and the bath was re-enamelled previously then it may show up that the bath is flaking, cracking, peeling away from the original bath enamel.

In this case we have to undo the work of the previous job before we can actually respray the bath.

If the old surface is damaged cracking or peeling away we have to get rid of that coating before we do our coating or it may continue to peel.

In this case we remove the old enamel surface and sand it back too to make it smooth again then we start our full bath re-enamelling and bath resurfacing procedure.

How Long Will The Bath Last?

The bath should last 10 to 20 years or more depending on the use of it.

A bath like anything will wear and tear over time. You can’t expect it to look perfect after 5 or 10 years. But you can maintain it by cleaning it properly.

You don’t need bleach a=once we have re enamelled the bath.

    Is The Bathroom Protected?

Yes we cover the floor with dust sheets so it’s protected. We mask all around the bath so there is no over-spray.

We have an extractor that blows out any dust and enamel spray that is in the bathroom. We clean up as best we can after the job but it can get a bit dusty and it’s hard to catch everything working in a small space.

You may have to dust over the surface and run the bath and rinse it down before using it.

What Materials Do We Use For The Job?

We have tested and tried all the different enamel products and materials out there and we have found the best ones for the bath resurfacing job.

They are not the cheapest materials on the market but they are the best and that’s why we use them. The enamel we use is long lasting and durable. It has a deep shine to it.

Yes – please review our warranty page for full details of what the warranty covers.

Bath Resurfacing and Re-Enamelling Full Step-By-Step Procedure

    1. We dust sheet the whole bathroom and cover all surfaces.
    2. We clean the bath with certain spray cleaners for your bath and remove any old and mouldy sealant.
    3. We then repair any damage to the bath, if there are any chips, scratches, limescale damage, holes, worn away enamel, etc. we repair that. This can involve sanding of the bath too so it’s smooth again
    4. Then we use certain chemicals on the bath to prepare it for adhesion. We use certain solvents that get rid of any grease, etc.
    5. We then put on our FIRST bonding agent/adhesive
    6. Then we spray on our SECOND bonding agent/etching primer. This is what makes us different from other resurfacing companies in that we use two bonding methods
    7. We then spray on the bath enamel with 3-4 coats of white enamel. This is a spray gun finish. We have a full spray gun set up which is for domestic use
    8. We let the bath set and dry to a point and then we do any finishing touches, polishing, etc. if needed

    What Is Bath Re‑Enamelling?

Bath re‑enamelling—also known as bath resurfacing, bath refinishing or enamel restoration—is a specialised process that revitalises the surface of your existing bathtub. Over time, regular use, cleaning chemicals, and normal wear can cause the enamel layer to become scratched, chipped, discoloured or stained. Rather than replacing the entire fixture, professional bath refinishing in Kettering renews the enamel surface using advanced materials and techniques.

This process involves careful preparation of the existing surface, precise repair of imperfections, and application of high‑performance coatings that bond with the bathtub substrate. The result is a smooth, durable, and visually appealing surface that enhances the functionality and appearance of the bathroom. By choosing high‑quality bath enamel restoration, homeowners can enjoy a refreshed bathroom without the time, expense, and upheaval associated with removing and reinstalling a new tub.

    The Bath Re‑Enamelling Process

The quality of a refinishing service depends on the expertise and meticulous approach applied at every step. Our comprehensive bath restoration process is engineered to maximise surface integrity and appearance. The steps below outline how professionals transform your tub:

    • Initial Assessment and Preparation
Every job begins with a thorough on‑site assessment of your bathtub’s condition. Technicians inspect for cracks, rust, chips and old coatings to determine the best refinishing approach. The surrounding areas are carefully protected to prevent overspray or damage.
    • Surface Cleaning and Degreasing
The existing enamel surface is cleaned using specialised solutions that remove soap scum, mineral deposits, oils and residues. Proper cleaning ensures that the new coating adheres firmly and evenly to the substrate.
    • Repair of Imperfections
Once cleaned, chips, dents and surface flaws are meticulously repaired. This step uses premium fillers designed to bond with enamel surfaces and create a uniform base. Careful attention to repair quality is critical to achieving a flawless finish.
    • Abrasion and Profiling
The bathtub surface is gently abraded and profiled to improve mechanical adhesion of the new enamel coating. This step enhances the bond strength, reduces the risk of peeling and ensures a smooth, consistent final coat.
    • Primer and Enamel Application
A specialised primer sealer is applied first to stabilise the surface. After this, multiple layers of high‑grade enamel coating are applied using spray methods that guarantee even coverage. These coatings are formulated for resilience, stain resistance and long‑term performance.
    • Curing and Quality Inspection
After application, the surface is allowed to cure properly to reach full hardness before use. A final quality inspection ensures uniformity of finish, adherence of coating and overall aesthetic quality.

The thoroughness of this process delivers a professional bath coating finish that revitalises your fixture and performs reliably in everyday use.

Refinished bathtubs look cleaner, newer, and more attractive. Custom colour matching allows homeowners to maintain or update their bathroom’s design scheme without costly renovation.
    • Extended Fixture Lifespan
By addressing surface defects and applying long‑lasting enamel coatings, refinishing can extend the functional life of your bathtub for many years, delaying the need for eventual replacement.
    • Faster Turnaround and Minimal Disruption
    • On‑site re‑enamelling typically completes within a single day, with most bathtubs ready for use the next day. This minimises disturbance and allows households to return to normal routines quickly.
    • Durable, Easy‑To‑Maintain Surfaces
Professional coatings help resist soap scum, stains, and everyday wear, making regular cleaning easier and preserving appearance longer than older, worn surfaces.
    • Eco‑Friendly Solution
Reusing your existing bathtub reduces waste and avoids landfill disposal. Eco‑friendly refinishing is a sustainable alternative that conserves resources and reduces environmental impact.
