Bath Enamel Repair Colour Matching
To repair a chip in a bath we need to recreate the colour of the enamel on the spot to match the colour of your existing bath.
All baths and shower trays are different shades of white!
And that’s why we build up the enamel colour on the day. We use various tinters to match the colour. This is a particular skill in bath and shower chip repairs and takes experience and precision to be able to create the correct colour
Once we have the enamel coloured matched we then spray it on with a spray gun. Having the correct colour matched you get very good result.
We can do enamel bath repairs on:
- Cast iron baths
- Steel baths
- Acrylic baths (Plastic Baths)
- Shower Trays
- Sinks
- Toilets
Full Step By Step Procedure:
To repair a chip in a bath we follow this general procedure:
- We inspect the damage of the area. We see the best way to repair the bath, shower tray, etc.
- We use our high quality adhesive which is put over the damage and this will make the new enamel we put on firmly stick
- We fill the crack, hole or chip with a special filler for these fixtures
- We let it dry and harden
- We then sand it and smooth it off so it’s of the same contour and blending with the surface
- We make up the enamel colour on the spot in your home to match the unit. This takes time and we have perfected the way to do this over years of experience
- We use a adhesive agent again over the filler to create extra strength in bonding our new enamel surface on
- We now spray on the enamel coating with a small spray gun to vanish out the repair with the matched colour we created
- We let it to dry and cure, you can use the bath or shower tray after 24 hours
How long does the bath enamel repair take ?
The bath enamel repair usually takes about 1.5- 2 hours to do. This is an estimate based on a standard enamel bath repair. It could take longer depending on the damage involved.
Some cracks and holes can take longer to tackle.
What is the standard of the repair?
The bath enamel repair standard we try to achieve is a repair that you can no longer notice in every day usage.
We work hard to colour match the colour of the enamel so you can no longer see the damaged area. If you were to walk into the room and use the bath or shower you wouldn’t notice there was a chip or crack.
After years of testing we have sourced the best materials on the market to carry out the repairs
If however, you look over the bath very closely, moving your head back and forth in all different angles of the light you may be able to see something. It is, after all, a repair of the surface. But in normal usage you will not be able to see any sign of a repair being done.
How long does the enamel repair last?
The chip repair should last as long as the bath lasts. We use a high quality bonding agent and enamel coating on all reapairs
We wouldn’t have to come back and do another bath chip repair on the same spot- that would be very rare.
Does the bath chip repair come with a guarantee?
Yes, it does. The warranty covers 1 year from the time the repair is done. The warranty covers flaking or cracking of the enamel coating or the repair coming away.
We have a warranty page you can look at here for more information.
We don’t cover against cracks and structural damage to the sink, shower tray or bathtub.
What quality of materials do we use for the bath chip repair?
We have tried and tested all the varies materials on the market and we have found the best ones to use.
We use a high quality bonding agent which firmly holds the enamel on the repair so it doesn’t come off.
We use a enamel coating which is quite expensive but it does have the best finish so thats why we use it.
All your bath enamel repairs, shower tray repairs and sink repairs are in good hands !
Which areas do you cover?
We cover London, Hertfordshire and Essex, Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire, Reading, Gloucester etc
We send our technicians all over to get those repairs done.
How can i prevent chips in the future ?
Do bath repair kits work?
Yes, they work but only to a small degree
The simple answer is the bath repair kits won’t give you a good finish. All baths are different shades of white and the bath repair kit only supplies one or two white colours.
Usually a super brilliant white colour is supplied. Chances are it’s not the correct colour of white that matches your bathtub or shower tray. The bonding agents that they supply are not that strong either so the enamel repair will usually wear away or come off after a while
If bath repair kits worked then we wouldn’t be in business. But the reality is they don’t really work that well to satisfy the customer.
We spray on the enamel coating with a little spray gun as that gives the best finish and we then fade out the enamel repair with a fade out thinner so it blends with the original surface.
We spend time finding the correct shade of white of your bath or shower tray by using varies tinters to closely match your surface for a vanishing repair.
I hope that gives you an idea of the bath repair kits. By all means give them a go and if it doesn’t work out then call us and we can sort it out.

What Is Bath Enamel Repair?
Bath enamel repair is the process of restoring the surface of an enamel, acrylic, or ceramic bathtub. This includes fixing chips, cracks, scratches, and holes, followed by recoating the surface using specially formulated bonding agents and high-gloss topcoats. For more extensive damage, full bath re-enamelling or resurfacing is performed.
