Bath Re Enamelling Cost ?
The cost of cast iron bath re enamelling is about £42-475 Plus VAT depending on the condition of the bath.
If the bath has been worked on before then it may need to be stripped back to the original surface.
That means we may have to remove the surface of the previous job that was done before we can fully re enamel the bath.
We want to make sure that there is very good adhesion between our new enamel surface and the old surface.
If the bath needs to be stripped first there is an additional cost of £70.

How long does the cast iron bath re enamelling last?
Once the bath is re enamelled it will usually last up to 10 years or more.
We use a very long lasting and durable enamel coating when bath resurfacing.
We also use TWO bonding methods. One wiped on and another sprayed on. These two bonding methods firmly stick and hold the new surface on.
But a bath will wear and tear over time as it is continually used. Just like anything that is used daily.
With our bath restoration process the bath should last years.
You can use the bath after 24 hours from completion of the job by our technician.
We use the best materials on the market. we have tested many different types of bonding agents and enamel paints over the years and we have decided on the best ones in our opinion.
They are not the cheapest materials but they are best materials on the market and give the best finish.
When bath refinishing we only apply a spray finish which we consider to be the best finish.
So we use the best materials and delivery the best spray finish.
Other companies use cups to pour it on or use paint brushes to put the enamel on.
We have found that this doesn’t give consistent results.
Because we use high quality materials it gives the bath a longer life span.
It is easy to clean and a maintain.
Yes we do a 5 Year Warranty that covers flaking or cracking of the new enamel coating that we put on.
The warranty doesn’t cover new chips, scratches, dents, limescale or discolouration from hair dyes, bath bombs etc to the bathtub or shower tray once it’s been re enamelled
We can’t give a warranty on damage to the bathtub that wasn’t from us.
We travel all over London, Hertfordshire and Essex.
I would advise to get the cast iron bath re enamelled where the bath is right now.
This saves your having to replace the bath and run the risk of damaging the tiles and the bathroom removing the bathtub.
You don’t need to get a plumber in to install the new bathtub and remove the old one.
All the work is done in a day. We re enamel the bath in a day and you can use the bath the following day.
If the bath enamel has become chalky then it may be too far gone to re enamel. In the event it is too far gone then you will have to get a new bathtub.
I would recommend getting a cast iron bath or a steel bath.
I wouldn’t recommend getting an acrylic or plastic bath as they are just not as strong.
The acrylic bathtubs and shower trays chip and scratch quite easily and need repaired a lot.
Acrylic shower trays and baths also have a tendency to crack.
Cast iron and steel baths don’t usually crack are a lot harder to chip and scratch that acrylic baths.

Preserving Vintage and Antique Baths

The Cast Iron Bath Re-Enamelling Process
Initial Inspection and Assessment
Before any work begins, a thorough inspection is carried out to assess the condition of your cast iron bath. This includes checking for chips, cracks, rust spots, stains, and overall enamel wear. This assessment helps determine the best approach to restoration and ensures no damage is overlooked.
Surface Preparation
The existing enamel surface must be carefully stripped away. This involves sanding down the entire bath to remove the old, worn enamel and any loose debris. Surface preparation is crucial for ensuring the new enamel adheres properly. The bath is then cleaned thoroughly to eliminate dust, grease, and other contaminants.
Repairing Damage
Any chips, cracks, or rusted areas found during the inspection are repaired using high-quality fillers designed specifically for cast iron surfaces. These repairs are carefully sanded to create a seamless, smooth surface, preparing the bath for its new enamel coating.
Applying New Enamel Coating
Once the surface is prepped and repaired, several coats of premium industrial-grade enamel paint are sprayed evenly onto the bath. This enamel is specially formulated for durability, gloss, and resistance to chipping and staining. Multiple layers ensure a thick, even, and lasting finish.
Curing and Drying
After application, the bath undergoes a curing process in a controlled environment. This step is vital as it allows the enamel to harden and bond fully to the cast iron surface, ensuring maximum durability and a high-gloss finish that looks brand new.
Final Inspection and Quality Check
The last step involves a detailed quality check to ensure the re-enamelling is flawless. The surface should be smooth, even, and free from imperfections. Any minor touch-ups are addressed to guarantee a finish that meets professional standards.
