    Bath Enamel Flaking or Cracking?

If the bath was re-enamelled before it is possible that the enamel is now flaking or cracking and peeling off!

Sadly this could be the case if the bath was not re enamelled properly in the past.

Don’t worry, we will remove the old enamel coating that was put on by a previous company.

We remove the whole enamel coating and get back to the original and then we will do the job properly from there

We use two bonding agents to ensure the enamel surface will not flake off or crack in the future.

How long will the new enamel surface last?

The bath should last years, 10-15  years or more depending on how it is maintained.

You can use general house cleaners like Mr Muscle, Flash, Ecover etc to clean the bath.

Don’t use bleach as this will dull the bath over time. Don’t use anything harsh like a scouring pad on the bath as this will scratch and dull it

Bath Re Enamelling & Bath Resurfacing Procedure Basildon

    1. We dust sheet the whole bathroom and cover all surfaces.
    2. We clean the bath with certain spray cleaners for your bath and remove any old and mouldy sealant.
    3. We then repair any damage to the bath, if there are any chips, scratches, limescale damage, holes, worn away enamel, etc. we repair that. This can involve sanding of the bath too so it’s smooth again
    4. Then we use certain chemicals on the bath to prepare it for adhesion. We use certain solvents that get rid of any grease, etc.
    5. We then put on our FIRST bonding agent/adhesive
    6. Then we spray on our SECOND bonding agent/etching primer. This is what makes us different from other resurfacing companies in that we use two bonding methods
    7. We then spray on the bath enamel with 3-4 coats of white enamel. This is a spray gun finish. We have a full spray gun set up which is for domestic use
    8. We let the bath set and dry to a point and then we do any finishing touches, polishing, etc. if needed

    Understanding Professional Bath Re-Enamelling

Bath re-enamelling is a specialist surface restoration process that involves repairing, bonding, and refinishing an existing bath to restore its original appearance and functionality. Unlike cosmetic touch-ups, professional resurfacing creates a hardened enamel-like coating that integrates with the original bath surface.

This service is particularly suitable for cast iron, steel, and ceramic baths commonly found in Basildon properties, including older housing stock across Essex. By addressing chips, scratches, dull finishes, and surface staining, re-enamelling extends the lifespan of the bath while enhancing cleanliness and visual appeal.

Why Homeowners in Basildon Choose Bath Re-Enamelling

Bathrooms across Basildon often feature structurally sound baths that show visible signs of age. Replacement can be expensive, disruptive, and unnecessary when the underlying fixture remains intact. Professional bath resurfacing in Basildon offers a smarter alternative by restoring existing installations with minimal downtime.

This service is particularly beneficial for properties undergoing partial renovations, rental refreshes, or pre-sale improvements. With careful preparation and expert application, re-enamelling delivers results that rival a new bath at a fraction of the cost, while avoiding plumbing alterations and structural changes.

    Key Benefits of Bath Re-Enamelling

One of the primary advantages of bath re-enamelling services in Essex is cost efficiency. Re-enamelling typically costs significantly less than full replacement while delivering a comparable aesthetic outcome. This makes it an ideal choice for budget-conscious homeowners and landlords maintaining multiple properties.

Another important benefit is reduced disruption. The process is completed on-site without removing the bath, eliminating the need for tile removal or plumbing work. Bathrooms in Basildon homes can often be ready for use within a short period, making this solution both practical and time-efficient.

    A Sustainable Bathroom Restoration Solution

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important for homeowners across Essex. Bath re-enamelling supports environmentally responsible renovation by reducing waste and minimizing the demand for new materials. Instead of disposing of a functional bath, resurfacing restores its surface while preserving the original fixture.

By choosing eco-conscious bath restoration in Basildon, property owners contribute to waste reduction while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and design. This approach aligns with modern sustainability expectations without compromising performance or durability.

    Our Specialist Bath Re-Enamelling Process

Professional results depend on a meticulous, multi-stage process designed to ensure long-term adhesion and durability. Each stage is carried out using industry-approved products and techniques suited to the climate and housing conditions found across Essex.

The process begins with a thorough inspection of the bath to identify chips, cracks, and surface wear. This evaluation determines the appropriate preparation and repair methods required for a flawless finish.

    Surface Preparation and Repairs

Surface preparation is the foundation of high-quality bath re-enamelling in Basildon. Existing sealants are removed, and the bath is deep-cleaned using specialist agents to eliminate soap residue, limescale, and contaminants. Any damaged areas are repaired using professional fillers to restore structural integrity.

Once repairs are completed, the surface is carefully abraded to promote strong bonding. This step is essential to achieving a smooth, even finish that resists peeling or flaking over time.

Application of Bonding Agents and Enamel Coating

After preparation, advanced bonding agents are applied to ensure the new coating adheres securely to the original surface. These products are specifically selected for compatibility with traditional and modern bath materials commonly found in Essex homes.

The enamel coating is then professionally sprayed in controlled layers to achieve a uniform, high-gloss finish. This stage transforms the bath’s appearance, delivering a clean, polished look that enhances the entire bathroom environment.

    Final Curing and Quality Inspection

Once the enamel has been applied, the surface is allowed to cure under controlled conditions. This ensures optimal hardness, durability, and resistance to moisture. A final inspection is carried out to confirm that the finish meets professional standards for appearance and performance.

The result is a revitalized bath that complements modern bathroom design while maintaining the character of the original installation.

Types of Baths Suitable for Re-Enamelling

Bath resurfacing in Basildon, Essex is suitable for a wide range of bath types, including cast iron, pressed steel, and ceramic models. These materials are commonly found in both period properties and newer developments throughout the region.
