Bath Re Enamelling & Bath Resurfacing Warranty
Miltons offer a 5 Year warranty on bath re enamelling.
The warranty covers flaking , cracking or peeling of the new bath enamel surface.
The warranty does not cover new chips, scratches, damage, discolouration, limescale, dirt that has been caused by use or misuse of the surface.
What is Bath Resurfacing and Bath Re-Enamelling?
Bath resurfacing is the process of re-spraying the bath with a 3-4 enamel coatings so it has a clean, smooth and shiny finish like a new bath.
There are usually bath chips, limescale, old sealant, scratches, roughness, etc that we have to remove and repair before we start with the bath resurfacing and bath re enamelling.
We can restore your bath to new in a day and you can use the bath the following day.
Bath Resurfacing VS Replacement?
It’s actually easier to re enamel the bath on-site, where the bath is than to replace it. This is called doing the bath in situ
Replacing the bath can end up costing more due to having to pay for a plumber, maybe destroying the surrounding tiles of the bath and having to get that fixed. Also, acrylic (plastic) baths are not as strong as cast iron or steel baths but it’s still a good idea to re-enamel them as they can become dull and damaged too.
It’s also contributing to a greener environment by repairing the bath you have instead of buying a completely new bath. Cast iron baths at present cost anywhere between £500-£5000. As a result, its a good idea to re enamel the bath! They are becoming more valuable these days
How Long Does The Job Take?
Bath resurfacing is done at your home and it usually takes 4-6 hours to complete the full bath repair and bath re-enamelling procedure.
When Can I Use The Bath After Its Re Enamelled?
You can use the bath after 24 hours from completion of the job by our technician.
Has The Bath Been Worked On Before?
If the bath has been worked on before and the bath was re-enamelled previously then it may show up that the bath is flaking, cracking, peeling away from the original bath enamel.
In this case we have to undo the work of the previous job before we can actually respray the bath.
If the old surface is damaged cracking or peeling away we have to get rid of that coating before we do our coating or it may continue to peel.
In this case we remove the old enamel surface and sand it back too to make it smooth again then we start our full bath re-enamelling and bath resurfacing procedure.
How Long Will The Bath Last?
The bath should last years, sometimes up to 10 years or more depending on the use of it. We have done baths years later to bring it fully back to life again so it’s smooth and shiny but sometimes the baths last less than that.
A bath like anything will wear and tear over time. You can’t expect it to look perfect after 5 or 10 years.
With the use of modern spray cleaners and bleaches they dull the bath over time too.
Is The Bathroom Protected?
Yes we cover the floor with dust sheets so it’s protected. We mask all around the bath so there is no over-spray.
We have an extractor that blows out any dust and enamel spray that is in the bathroom. We clean up as best we can after the job but it can get a bit dusty and it’s hard to catch everything working in a small space.
You may have to dust over the surface and run the bath and rinse it down before using it.
What Materials Do We Use For The Job?
We have tested and tried all the different enamel products and materials out there and we have found the best ones for the bath resurfacing job.
They are not the cheapest materials on the market but they are the best and that’s why we use them. The enamel we use is long lasting and durable. It has a deep shine to it.
Yes – please review our warranty page for full details of what the warranty covers.
Bath Resurfacing and Re-Enamelling Full Step-By-Step Procedure
- We dust sheet the whole bathroom and cover all surfaces.
- We clean the bath with certain spray cleaners for your bath and remove any old and mouldy sealant.
- We then repair any damage to the bath, if there are any chips, scratches, limescale damage, holes, worn away enamel, etc. we repair that. This can involve sanding of the bath too so it’s smooth again
- Then we use certain chemicals on the bath to prepare it for adhesion. We use certain solvents that get rid of any grease, etc.
- We then put on our FIRST bonding agent/adhesive
- Then we spray on our SECOND bonding agent/etching primer. This is what makes us different from other resurfacing companies in that we use two bonding methods
- We then spray on the bath enamel with 3-4 coats of white enamel. This is a spray gun finish. We have a full spray gun set up which is for domestic use
- We let the bath set and dry to a point and then we do any finishing touches, polishing, etc. if needed
Acrylic Bath Resurfacing in Birmingham
Premium Bath Restoration, Long-Lasting Results, and Expert Surface Renewal
Refreshing a tired, stained, or worn-down bath is one of the most effective ways to give a bathroom a new lease of life without the cost of full replacement. In Birmingham, where homes range from modern city-centre apartments to traditional properties across the West Midlands, keeping bathrooms in good condition is a key priority for homeowners. Acrylic bath resurfacing has become a popular choice, offering a durable, cost-effective way to restore both appearance and function while avoiding the disruption of removing the entire bath.
With rising renovation costs and the importance of maintaining property value, resurfacing provides an accessible and environmentally responsible alternative to replacement. Whether you live in central Birmingham, Edgbaston, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, or elsewhere in the region, this approach can transform a bathroom quickly and effectively.
Professional services focus on every detail, combining modern coating technologies with careful surface preparation to achieve a smooth, glossy finish that blends seamlessly with the surrounding area. Experienced technicians ensure repairs are long-lasting and colour-matched, helping homeowners avoid unnecessary replacement costs while giving their bath a refreshed, like-new appearance.
Why Choose Acrylic Bath Resurfacing in Birmingham?
Acrylic bath resurfacing is a method used to restore worn, damaged, faded, discoloured, or scratched bath surfaces without removing or replacing the bath itself. In a city like Birmingham, where a mix of older Victorian homes and newer constructions means bath conditions vary widely, resurfacing provides an adaptable solution suitable for all types of acrylic tubs. It is especially valuable in areas where older bathrooms cannot easily accommodate a full removal and reinstall due to pipework, tiling, or structural layout.
The process involves a structured sequence of cleaning, repairing, priming, and coating steps that collectively rebuild the bath’s surface. When completed by an experienced specialist, the results can be comparable to a brand-new bath. Homeowners in Birmingham often choose resurfacing to revitalise property rentals, speed up pre-sale improvements, or simply modernise a bathroom without the complication of major renovations.
The term “bath resurfacing Birmingham service” is becoming increasingly common in home-renovation discussions because of how effective, efficient, and affordable the method is. Whether the issue is dullness, staining, or structural cosmetic wear, resurfacing can reverse years of damage and produce a finish that remains durable with proper care.
Benefits of Choosing Professional Acrylic Bath Resurfacing
- Cost-Effective Alternative to Replacement
Replacing a bath involves more than just purchasing a new tub. Homeowners must consider plumbing disconnection, tile removal, potential flooring work, disposal of the old bath, and professional installation. These combined costs can climb significantly. Professional acrylic bath repair in Birmingham enables homeowners to preserve their existing bath while achieving a fresh, long-lasting finish at a fraction of the cost. - Minimal Disruption to the Home
One of the biggest advantages of resurfacing is convenience. Most jobs are completed in a single visit, typically within a few hours. The bath is usually ready to use after an appropriate curing period. For busy Birmingham households, this avoids days of construction noise, debris, and downtime. - Sustainable and Environmentally Responsible
Choosing resurfacing over replacement reduces waste and limits the environmental impact associated with manufacturing and transporting new bathroom fixtures. As sustainability becomes a bigger priority across the West Midlands, resurfacing is increasingly preferred for its low carbon footprint. - Durable, Long-Lasting Results
When applied by trained specialists using commercial-grade coatings, the resurfaced finish can last many years. Modern products allow acrylic baths to retain gloss, resist staining, and withstand daily use under normal conditions. Many Birmingham homeowners report that resurfaced baths look new for extended periods when maintained properly. - Suitable for a Wide Range of Damage
Surface scratches, worn enamel, stains, discolouration, impact marks, dull patches, and minor cracks can all be addressed through resurfacing. This makes the service ideal for older properties and rental units in Birmingham, where wear and tear is common. - Great for Property Improvements and Sales
If you’re preparing a home for sale or upgrading a rental property, a freshly resurfaced bath can significantly improve the bathroom’s appearance. Properties with updated bathrooms tend to attract more attention in the competitive Birmingham housing and rental market.
Our Full Acrylic Bath Resurfacing Process
Miltons Bath Enamel Repair utilises a thorough, methodical process designed to maximise adhesion, durability, and surface quality. The steps below outline the complete approach used throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands.
- Initial Assessment
Technicians inspect the bath for structural integrity and surface defects. This ensures resurfacing is appropriate and identifies any areas requiring special repair treatment, such as previous coating failures or deep scratches. - Deep Cleaning and Surface Preparation
Cleaning is a critical stage of resurfacing. All soap residue, mineral deposits, oils, and contaminants are removed using industrial cleaning agents. Preparation continues with sanding to create a surface profile that allows the new coating to bond effectively. - Repairing Defects and Filling Imperfections
Any chips, dents, or cracks in the acrylic are filled using specialist repair compounds. This step ensures that the finished surface will be smooth and visually consistent. - Masking Surrounding Areas
Bathroom tiles, taps, and fixtures around the bath are thoroughly masked to protect them during the coating stage. Proper masking is essential for maintaining clean, crisp lines and a professional appearance. - Application of Primers and Bonding Agents
A powerful bonding agent is applied to guarantee long-term adhesion between the original acrylic and the new coating. This is a crucial difference between professional resurfacing and low-quality DIY kits. - Multi-Layer Application of Specialised Coating
Several layers of coating are evenly sprayed over the bath, gradually building a new surface that is glossy, smooth, and visually appealing. Technicians work carefully to avoid drips, inconsistencies, or texture issues. - Quality Checks and Final Inspection
Before completing the job, technicians inspect the newly resurfaced bath for uniformity, smoothness, and finish quality, ensuring the work meets professional standards. - Final Cure Time
After resurfacing, the bath requires a specific curing time to ensure full chemical bonding. Once cured, the bath is ready for regular use.

FAQs
How long does acrylic bath resurfacing take?
Most resurfacing jobs in Birmingham take between four and six hours, depending on the condition of the bath and the amount of preparation required. After the coating is applied, the bath normally requires a curing period before it is ready for everyday use.
How long will the new resurfaced finish last?
With proper care, a professionally resurfaced acrylic bath can last many years. The lifespan depends on usage, cleaning habits, and the original condition of the bath. Homes across the West Midlands often enjoy excellent longevity from resurfaced finishes when mild cleaning products are used.
Is the resurfacing process suitable for heavily damaged acrylic baths?
Yes. Acrylic baths with scratches, dullness, stains, or minor cracks are strong candidates for resurfacing. Even older tubs can typically be restored. If a bath has severe structural issues, the technician will advise on the best course of action during assessment.
Can resurfacing fix discoloured or yellowed acrylic?
Absolutely. Discolouration is one of the most common reasons Birmingham homeowners choose resurfacing. The application process completely restores the colour, giving the bath a bright, consistent appearance.
Are the coatings used safe and durable?
The coatings applied are specifically designed for bath surfaces and meet industry safety standards. They provide a durable, smooth finish capable of withstanding regular use, common bathroom conditions, and standard cleaning routines.
Will the resurfaced bath look brand new?
A professionally resurfaced bath can look remarkably close to new. The gloss level, smoothness, and colour uniformity depend on the quality of preparation and application. With expert resurfacing, most homeowners report a noticeably renewed appearance.
How should I clean a resurfaced bath?
Use mild, non-abrasive cleaning products. Harsh chemicals or scouring pads should be avoided because they can damage the finish. A gentle routine cleaning schedule will maintain shine and extend durability.
Does resurfacing work for rental properties or homes for sale?
Yes. Many landlords and sellers in Birmingham choose resurfacing to enhance bathroom appeal quickly and affordably. It increases the visual quality of the bathroom, helping attract tenants or potential buyers.
