Bath Repair in Dundee – Localised Expertise for Every Home

Dundee’s property landscape is incredibly diverse—ranging from historic Victorian tenements to modern new builds. Each style of home presents its own bath-related challenges, and at Miltons Bath Enamel Repair, we’ve spent over three decades perfecting our solutions to match the unique needs of Dundee’s residents, landlords, and property managers.

Property Types and Common Bath Damage in Dundee

    1. Traditional Tenement Flats – (Hilltown, Stobswell, West End)

Many of these character-rich homes feature cast iron or pressed steel bathtubs, which were designed to last but have often lost their original enamel coating through decades of use. Common issues include:

    • Chipping around the edges
    • Rust stains near overflows or plugholes
    • Surface pitting and dullness from harsh cleaning chemicals

Our process restores these baths while preserving original features—ideal for heritage-conscious homeowners.

    2. Post-War Council Housing – (Fintry, Douglas, Lochee)

These properties often have built-in enamel or acrylic baths that suffer from:

    • Cosmetic damage due to high-traffic use
    • Corner cracking from bath flex or poor support
    • Discolouration from age and water hardness

We address structural and surface concerns with tailored material solutions based on the bath’s construction.

    3. Modern New Builds – (Western Gateway, Dykes of Gray, Technology Park)

Fitted with lightweight acrylic baths, these homes may show:

    • Fine surface scratches from daily use
    • Fading or yellowing due to natural light exposure
    • Stress cracks from insufficient bracing underneath

Our technicians use UV-stable, colour-matched enamel systems that blend perfectly with modern finishes.

How Dundee’s Climate Affects Bath Surfaces

Scotland’s cool and humid environment can accelerate enamel degradation. In Dundee, bath surfaces are often affected by:

    • Thermal shock – common when hot water meets cold bath surfaces in underheated bathrooms, causing micro-cracks
    • Hard water – prevalent in Tayside, leading to limescale buildup and enamel erosion
    • Condensation and poor ventilation – causing mould around chipped areas or rust formation on exposed steel

Our materials are specially chosen for these conditions: flexible, heat-resistant, and impervious to moisture or limescale.

We Support Homeowners, Landlords & Social Housing

Whether you own your home, manage rental units, or operate as part of a housing association, we provide flexible solutions for:

    • End-of-tenancy bath damage
    • HMO compliance maintenance
    • Bathroom upgrades for resale or letting
    • Preservation of period bathroom fixtures
We also provide multi-property discounts for landlords and agents in Dundee’s high-rental areas like Baxter Park, Menzieshill, and Clepington Road.

Post-Repair Protection & Care – Designed for Scottish Homes

After your bath repair, we provide a bespoke aftercare guide with tips specific to Dundee’s weather and housing conditions. Key recommendations include:

    • Ventilate bathrooms to prevent mould and condensation
    • Avoid abrasive cleaners or bleach-based sprays
    • Rinse baths after use to reduce mineral residue
    • Avoid suction mats that trap water on enamel
    • Dry the bath regularly in winter to prevent cold damage

For added peace of mind, we also offer touch-up kits and maintenance visits.

    FAQs -

How long does the bath re enamelling take ?

A bath, shower or sink can be re enamelled and resurfaced in about 6-8 hours from start to finish

    How long is the warranty?

Bath, Shower & Sink Re Enamelling & Resurfacing comes with a 5 Year Warranty & Guarantee covering flaking or cracking of the new enamel surface

Bath, Shower & Sink Repairs comes with a 1 Year warranty and Guarantee except Crack Repairs which comes with a 3 month guarantee.

How long will the new re enamelled surface last?

The newly enamelled bath should last 10-15 years and maybe even 20 years if maintained and cleaned properly.

How to care and maintain the surface after it is repaired or re enamelled?

Use a standard spray cleaner and spray over the bath, shower or sink and then leave for a few mins then wipe down with a cloth or sponge. Don’t use anything too abrasive on the surface or it could dull it.

Don’t use bleach on the bath as bleach can also dull it over time and it looses its shine.

Limescale removers can be used on the surface without harm

Do i need to do anything before the Bath Repair Technician arrives to do the job?

Yes please empty the bathroom of towels, bath robes, tooth brushes, perfumes etc etc so that the bathroom is basically empty. When we are restoring the surface we may need to sand and repair sections or completely take off the enamel surface before we can put our enamel surface. Best to protect all your belongings for full bath resurfacing.

Are Miltons a local company ?

Yes we are. We are a family run company of two brothers.

How long have been in business ?

We have been ding bath, shower and sink repairs and full bath resurfacing and re enamelling for over 30 years. We are experts in bath, shower and sink repairs, wood repairs, mastic and some plumbing services.

    Are Miltons Insured?

Yes we are fully insured with Public Liability Insurance

Are we highly rated in our field ?

Yes we have 1000 + reviews from our happy customers on Google & Trustpilot

    Do Bath Repair Kits Work?

To a very small degree the bath repair kits work but the colour us usually brilliant white which wont match the colour of your surface. All surfaces have many shades of white and we colour match on the spot so the repair blends out.
